Default Cub Cadet 4x2

I'm new to your site so be patient. I'm 68 and tired of driving 20 HP mowers from here to there. I need power for light hawling, hunting gear, and climbing Mo. Ozark hills. I'm looking at the 18 HP, V twin, Big Country. Is there anything I should know about this unit?

My father-in-law has a Big Country 4x2 with a 9.5 HP Kawasaki. The one you're looking at has a much bigger engine and that's a good thing. The 9.5 will barely pull the hat off your head.

The Good:
Large bed, easy to get on and off of (he's got bad knees), inexpensive compared to the competition.

The Bad:
The suspension sucks - it rides like a board, belt transmission is not sealed (don't go through water), much more like a golf cart than a Rhino.

The Ugly:
It's been back to the shop 4 times in a year because the battery will not charge properly.

Let me tell you... you get what you pay for. If you're looking for a budget Ranger/Prowler/Rhino, this is not it. This is bare-bones farm transportation. I would not consider the Cub for anything other than basic use on very moderate terrain. If you think you need a Rhino, buy a Rhino.
