Red squirrel
Don`t waist them. I used to love grouse hunting until deer season 2 years ago when there was a red squirrel in a tree near our plate glass window at the camp. I grabbed a 20ga and went a shot it, normally I like to see them and would never kill them but this close to my camp as they will burrow into the walls and such it had to die. Some of the old guys asked if i was going to eat it and I said "no way" they kept saying that the reds taste good so finally I gave in and said if someone guts it I`ll cook it and eat it, thinking no-one would offer a young guy about 8 tears younger than me (I was 43 at the time) offered so now I have to.... Man I tell you I no longer go for grouse. I still use the 20 so everyone thinks I`m grouse hunting when I`m with them but for some reason unknown I never see any grouse anymore. HEHE but I sure can find the red squirrels. I tried to find a pic of them frying in the pan but it must be on my lap top and not on the desk top. It takes about 3 of them with Potatoes and veggies to make a good meal.

Oh boy, I can't beleive there are people that have never eaten squirrel before. I'd bout run over a man with deer meat to eat squirrel. Guess coming from a deep south raising I'm lucky... There isn't anything better than a good pot of fried squirrel with cornmeal gravey and a big fat buttermilk biscuit to sop it up. Oh boy, got me wanting to go bust a few tree rats now. LOL!

True! Squirrel Soup
is the BEST! I would not have thought so, but last Easter our family had a variation on the food stuff and everyone brought a dish. Someone brought squirrel soup, WOW! It was so delicious, much like chicken soup just smaller chunks of meat. Ahhh...but yeah i don't like how the bark at me everyday when i come out the front door or how they chew the lawn furniture to get at the stuffing for their nests! At the deer lease i slam em with a .243, nothing left!
