Here`s a picture of my 11 year old boy with his first Deer, first time he had been out with me, very proud moment for Dad and son to share together, Deer was taken with a .243 from a tree stand, it was a great shot considering the circumstances.
He`s a lefty and he was on my right side, the Deer came up the left side of us, so he was having to lean over and in front of me to take his shot, I was having to hold him in the stand by the back his overalls “Don’t worry folks we were safe” he took the 45 yard shot, the deer went about 25 yards and went down.
The other picture is my buck from the same weekend, great weekend to share with my boy..

Wow, I would LOVE to go camping and hunting in a area of the "Co Elk Hunt Camp"
Where is that at?
Where is that at?
To fully appreciate that photo you have to understand the rest of the story. I took that photo right after I set up camp. My partner had gone into Silverton to get our ATV permits while I set up camp.
About an hour after I took the photo he returned and we headed into the mountains to glass a ridge I had located on the map. We drove the ATVs about 5 miles into the mountains and parked at a trail head. I started across the creek with the intent to go up and over a ridge. Before I could cross the creek I lost footing and fall. When I fell I broke my knee cap and ended up in the ER at Durango and then headed home the next day to see an Orthopedic Surgeon.
That was the shortest archery elk hunt I every experienced.
Here I am post broken knee pic waiting on the next day to head back home.
