I guess that depends on where you ride...by that I mean what are the elements that will affect you. For me, here in Idaho I just wear the old standard Whites Loggers. Cost an arm and a leg, but there is nothing finer for the dogs... www.whitesboots.com They custom make these to every dimension of your feet...last forever

In the winter I either wear these or my pac boots.

I wear 10 inch Matterhorns (15wide) when the temp is cool. I wear lighter hitec magnums when it gets warmer. I’ve never worn actual riding boots. I never figured they would have them in my size anyway.

I seem to be the only person on the planet who hates redwing boots but I have had no luck with them. I had a pair for work that hurt my feet and didn’t last long at all. I had a pair to hunt and hike with and they came apart in a matter of months.

In cool weather I swear by the matterhorns with the composite safety toes and inserts. When it gets too hot for them or just for casual wear I wear hitec magnums. The stealth model if I remember correctly.

Chippewa's I've had them for about 8 years and they're still going strong.

I wear snake boots from Bass Pro. They're almost knee high, and 100% waterproof. Oh..and also protect from snake bites. $100
