I have had a Remington 700 Muzzleloader for about 4 years. Thinking of getting an Encore since the Omega's are not out yet. Anyone have either? Good-bad things about them. SURELY they are easier to clean then the Remington.

I have the encore and love it, shoots like a rifle and reloads very fast with pellots and sabots, only downfall its kind of heavey but most are. During the summer I take the stock and barrel off and install my pistol grips and 45 410 barrel and do some shooting that way.

Help me out here.
I hunt side lock, have some nice ones but not sure of the new ones. I hier alot of talk around work about these new ones and claims of 200 yard kills with them and that. Is this true?
And another, any thing over 100 grain bucks like a mule. How do these new loaders do with 150 grain?

Gaff.......T/C claims you can make 200yd shots, but I am not putting a scope on my Encore this year, it has AWESOME fiber optic sights....so I will try them this year. I will shot it on Monday. I use Cleanshot powder. It is amazing. I am using Powerbelt bullets also. How far are you from Opelousas?
Trent, I was after the Omega also, but CANT find a camo SS one. They are WAY behind at the factory. The Encore melts in your hands!!!!

I live 40 minutes south of new orleans. I want to say 90 minutes to opelousas, but something like that.
I go about 2 hours north of opelousas to are company hunting camp a couple times a year. But mainly hunt closer to home because it's more practicle.
I need to see one of these new smoke poles your all talking about.
I mainly sight in for a 100 yards and can get out to 150 if need be, but it's not as easy as you would think. I took a shot at 240 yards 2 years ago and the bullet hit rite between the deers legs, on the ground that is. It was a profile shot and I aimed about a couple inches above the back. Clearly a, well, wild shot and probably never should have taken it.
I hierd just this morning of a 300 yarder from a smoke pole, I believe they were talking about the omegas. I never thought this could be true from a smoke pole. But claims of doing it and doing it are different stories too.
I have a couple hawkens, not much good at anything except maybe shooting *****. But I hunt with a traditions lightning fire 50 cal. 6 years ago when I got it, it was sappose to be the best, as far as side locks go. It's realy nice best muzzle loader I've ever shot. It's also the only side lock that can shoot the pellets. But I still have about 3/4 pound of paradox powder so I haven't shot the pellets yet.
I guess I need to go look at these new smoke poles, whats there price range.

I wish we could put a scope on a muzzleloader. Here in nebraska you can if it is only a 1 power. That is the same as no magnification, just the crosshairs. The trueglow sights are better than that, in my opinion. Have any of you tried a red dot scope? My brother has a eye disease and he cannot line up the front sight in the v of the rear one very good towards dusk so i thought about getting him one of these illuminated red dot scopes(no magnification) so he'll start hunting again. I have looked at a few on pistols, but have never seen one one a muzzleloader.
Also, how does the encore pistol compare to the rifles? I know it won't be as far, but anyone have any input?
Thanks!

I paid $549 for my Encore. I was passing through Springfield, Mo today so we stopped at Bass Pro. They wanted $559. I also looked at a scope but didnt get one YET....they were WAY too busy for me to get serious about getting one. I think I would rather order out of a catalog than to fight the crowds. The pistol is supposed to be as good as the rifle. Bass Pro doesnt even have any Omegas yet.
