How Accurate?
#1
Well i bought my Ruger Mini 14rp ranch rifle and put a fairly good scope on it and i am trying to sight it in using wolf ammo (55gr JHP) and i cant seem to get it to hit any better than an 8 inch circle at 100yds. Whats the deal with that is that the best it can do or am i doing somthing wrong? is it the bullets? well anyone else with a mini 14 i would like to know how goood your hitting at 100yrds or so and what bullets you are using..? ok

Hey Polarisman,
That sounds about right for a new mini14. You should be able to do a little better with some break in time. Also try as many different brands and types of ammo as you can afford. You'll be amazed at the different performance of various ammo in the same gun. Fortunately for me mine seemed to do its best (4 inches@100 yds with iron sights and shooting from a bench rest set up table ) with Win. USA white box 55gr fmj. Other than that you'll need to do some serious mods to make a mini a tack driver. In my humble opinion I don't think it is worth the money needed. The mini is what it is, and it is great for what it was intended. Still fun for blasting . Like the other guys already told you, if you want a accurate gun get an AR variant.

A 4" group is all you can really expect out of a mini 14/30,(unless you are really lucky). I have to second the AR15. There are several to pick from but you will spend at least $200 more than the mini was. Steve
