What do you have so far, how long will you be out for? A cell phone is allways a good idea along witha GPS, but people have been camping succefully without them for hundreds of years.
If you are just taking 2 quads you are gonna be strapped for space.

Heres what I would take for a weekend trip.

Water
Food that doesn't spoil.....beef jerky, canned food and stuff like that
Sleeping bag
Matches AND lighter
Dress warmer than what the weather dictates.
BEER
have fun

If you've got room for a tent and a camp stove then bring it with you but then you have to bring pots, pans and that type of bulky junk. If you get canned food then you will need a can opener or a good screw driver.
PS don't forget a good pocket knife.
Do your parents know where you will be......if not make sure to give them the general area.....just incase!

tent (good one)
bags (sleeping)
tools (for the quads)
stove (small)
water
food (I would bring dry food/to add water to,,,like oatmeal and raman noodles)
wet weather gear
tarp (big enough to keep you dry at night)
ax
tube/patch
air pump
gps
phone
enough clothing ( the higher tech, the better)
socks, socks, socks (wool)
a spare pair of boots
fire
saw
mess kit
Head lamp (flashlight for the head)

be sure to inform a family member of your location and return time

Don't bring a stove, just bring a cooking rack and build a fire, nothing like food cooked on an open fire. A four man dome tent doesn't take up very much space at all.
Don't forget:
sleeping bag
flashlight
food (steaks on an open fire are great)
cooler with some ice
hatchet with a hammerhead(chop fire wood and hammer in the tent stakes
6-8 spikes (last time I tented out the ground was to hard for the tent spikes we used spikes instead)
extra gas
paper plates
trash bags

this stuff will easily load onto two quads with full racks
those mess kits you can buy at walmart for $5.00 are great.
