Honda TRX450ER newbie

so i was wondering if the TRX450R and the TRX450ER use the same oil filter, because i accidentally bought the oil filter for the TRX450R and found out later on that i have the ER version.. and also i've got Honda HP4 oil without moly and i've got Honda GN4 oil and i was wondering which one i would use in the engine side and which one i would use on the tranny side.. thanx

This kind of question should be posted in the Honda forum....
If you insist on using Honda oil, run HP4M with moly in the engine side, and get some Honda HP Trans Oil for the transmission. If you have not opened the bottles, your dealer should be willing to exchange them.
The engines on the ER and R are identical, so the oil filter will also be the same, but you can check the part numbers when you exchange the oil. Only difference is one is electric start and one is kick. You should have gotten the kicker!!!
I have done a lot of oil posts for the 450R. I will post some links when I get a chance. Lots of good info out there, so good oportunity to educate yourself!

Read the links that I posted here: http://forums.atvconnection.com/honda/318931-oil.html
Nice thing about your 450 is that it seperates the engine and trans oils! So, you can run a very slick oil in the engine side, and this will net you more torque and horsepower. Here I prefer Redline or Maxima Ultra or 530MX. In the trans, I like Redline 80W Motorcycle Grear Oil with ShockProof, one of the trans specific lubes like Motul Expert or Maxima MTL, or Maxima Extra engine oil.
