Default New to the game

I'm a 42 year old city boy that just bought my first used quad to run with one of our local search and rescue teams.
I'm somewhat of a gear head myself and looking forward to good conversation and learning a few things here. I just bought it and have a few things I want to do on it so it will be ready come late spring for the spring, summer, and fall season.
Any advise, I'm more than willing to listen.
So hello all

Welcome. You didn't say what you are riding but regardless take the ATV safety course. It will really help you stay out of trouble and you might even learn something!
Safe riding - can't say enough about how great "local search and rescue" folks are!

Thank you everyone, I bought a Yamaha Timberwolf. Yes I already looked up safety classes here on the web and as soon as the weather breaks a little that is the first thing I'll be in for sure.
Since I'll be riding with the search and rescue team I really want to know how to get the quad to perform safely for me. That would be embarrassing if I had an issue.
