Default Gettin older....sport to utility HELP!!!!

Hi everyone...it is so awesome to have a place like this to get info and ideas from those that have had the experiences.

I am 41 years old and have been riding a quad since 1988 when i bought my first Honda 250x and here I am some 22 years later riding a 250 ex (wife and daughter) and a 400ex.

We used to ride @ Rausch Creek before it closed and I had a very horrible accident there about 5-6 years ago...hence the username I have chosen!

I am very excited to start seriously riding again and i thoroughly enjoy my 400ex, however my daughter prefers the moto-x style of riding and I prefer the woods and trails.

We are planning to buy a place in the poconos and i am readying to buy a new enclosed trailer for trips to West Virginia and Georgia. The BIG QUESTION:::I am keeping both quads and i looking to buy another for having deep woods and trail fun.....I was looking at the Grizzly/Polaris 850 and such but once I SAW the polaris 800 6 x 6 I am HOOKED...I have never ridden on a 4 x 4 quad let alone a 6 x 6...does anyone have any thooughts on whether this would be as FUN as it looks? Keep in mind MY BIGGEST SELLING POINT TO THE WIFE::: Honey, you can drive it too!! Thanks in advance and it's great to be a member...SAFE RIDING

The 800 6x6 is a beast of a machine. Mostly geared toward hauling. My guess is that the steering effort will be harder than on a regular quad because it has 4 wheels pushing forward that you have to steer against. It WILL outhaul any quad and outtow any quad out there. As DodgeHemi said, the best bet for a quad that your wife might be riding is one with power steering. All the major brands except Kawasaki have power steering available on at least one of their quads. They start at the 500cc range and work all the way up to 1000cc. Best for power are the Polaris Sportsman XP 850, CanAm 800, and ArcticCat 1000cc. Polaris tend to have the best ride comfort and on board storage options. CanAm best speed and power. ArcticCat has some good storage options too but I don't know as much about them. Yamaha Grizzly 550 and 700 are pretty bulletproof and they were the first with power steering. Honda has super reliability but is behind in technology in my opinion. Suzuki also has the King Quad in 500 and 750 if I remember right.

welcome! i've always wanted one of those big boss 6x6's, and a few years ago when they updated it to have that 800cc efi engine and full independent suspension on all 6 tires, man, if i only had $13k laying around!!

i would say for trail riding, something with PS and independent suspension would be best. the best bang for your buck is most likely a suzuki king quad 750 AXi. good luck!

I think in the States that the price is more like $10K on the Big Boss 6x6 800. The Ranger 6x6 is around $12.5K. The Suzuki KQ 750 AXi is definetly priced the best out of the big bore quads with power steering.

I'd love to see Polaris make the Big Boss with a fold up seat like the X2 has. It would be the best camping rig out there.
