Talking Newbie Polaris question

Looking to get my first ATV, for play and some driveway (700 feet) snow plowing. I am looking at a 96 Polaris Sportsman 400 4x4 with 1300 miles on it. Seems to run ok, but I am trying to find a listing of the compression for the motor. Anyone have a listing for that??? Thanks!

Thanks, but the motor is a 2 stroke on a 96 correct? So smoke would be there good or bad compression? Is there any other ways to tell how much life a 2 stroke motor has left in it?

Welcome to the forums.

If the compression is below 90psi, it's time for a rebuild.
