Newbie to the ATV world but not forums

Hello all! My name is Justin and I am new to the world of 4 wheelers. I just recently acquired a 1987 Suzuki LT230EH and so far I am loving it. The only thing I don't like is the fact that she has been neglected for a while now but not so much so that she is beyond repair. For the most part this old wheeler isn't in too bad of shape. I know that it's rare to find a quad or even three wheeler that is as old as this one and still has it's plastics in tact, but mine does. Since purchasing it I have had to change the oil, put new chain rollers on it, and adjust the chain. I know it is in need of a valve adjustment which will come in the near future and possibly even a new piston and ring set being she is blowing white smoke. I bought this wheeler for my son for his 16th birthday that he has coming up...though he doesn't realize it's his just yet. I plan on doing a complete tear down of the bike to clean it up and get some fresh paint on it. I'm not going to completely tear down the motor though being as I don't think it necessary, but do intend on replacing any parts I deem too old for continued service. I can definitely feel that there is some hidden power that I know I can access with new parts.
Other than all that, I am happily married and have been for going on 17 years, we have four children together and welcomed the arrival of our first grandson back in February of this year. I was medically retired from the Army due to a battle with Hodgkins Lymphoma which required me to have to have an emergency decompression surgery on my spine being the tumor was intertwined with my spine, aeorta, and right kidney. I have been in remission since April of 2006, and am very thankful that I was serving the country when it happened. I never made it over to Iraq or Afganistan and feel that someone or thing was looking out for me being I was slated to go to Iraq the same year I found out I had cancer. Life has been fairly good to me for the most part even though I can no longer work or enjoy some of the things I used to enjoy in life when I was fit and healthy. I do enjoy the fact that I am still here and able to watch my children grow up and be able to spend the rest of my life with the woman I fell in love with so long ago.
Anyways, I look forward to sharing knowledge and giving or getting advice from all of you. I hope everyone has a great summer riding the trails or wherever it is that you ride. I have 13 acres to play around on so I will be riding my own land...lol! Hopefully I will have the opportunity to meet some of you in the future. That's all for now and take care!!
