Nazz, I agree, that 800 is a lot of machinefor a new guy. Riding with your daughter will slow ya down initially. Ride within your ability, enjoy, and stay safe. Rider safety course is never a bad idea either.
Would never be an issue in this area. There probably aren't enough sleds to have a sled club. Still seems rather nearsighted to not include more offroad vehicles on their trails. Its too bad sled owners and atv owners would rather be rivals instead of unite to promote more off highway vehicle access. That's the world we live in today I guess.

Out here a lot of people ride something all year long and own quads and sleds. Some places like Tug Hill have dual purpose trails, but a lot of clubs trails run through farm fields. They aren't exactly available spring through fall anyway.

Consider yourself lucky you get that kind of access, that wouldn't happen here for sure.

I don't have a sled, so no access for me, lol. I do know a lot of people that do though. You can't really hurt any crops when there is a foot of snow and it hasn't been above freezing in a few weeks.

Thnx scootergptx. It's something he always talked about beginning at the age of 6. My wife is not taking it well, she's a nervous wreck. But I know he will be fine and do well..

Well today we went back to the dealer and they went thru and explained my daughters little artic cat 90 to her. Then they let her ride it for awhile. She had the biggest cool aid smile from ear to ear. On the way home she told us this was the second best day she ever had. The first was when we surprised her with a puppy. This is what it's all about. Making happy memories that our children will never forget. Thx again all.

Its still trespassing, farmers don't like that. You might get lucky but around here, you'd at least get chased maybe even shot at. Owning a sled doesn't mean you can go any place there is snow. Its not univeral access. Maybe its different where you live but most people don't want it. That kind of disregard for other people's property is why trails get shut down. People think they can go anywhere.

Huh? I think something got lost in the translation, lol. Farmers are allowing use of their fields in the winter, the clubs and state somewhat work together and the whole thing opens up thousands of miles of trails. Those same trails aren't available once the snow melts for the bikes and quads. We are seeing more and more private land available and the clubs are the ones making it happen. It still is a tiny percentage vs what is available December through March though.

Also, guess I should clarify, you don't get freedom to ride anywhere in the fields, most have trail marked out clearly with ribbon and little signs.
