Is a 700xx any good for beginner

Would not matter the trials are to slow for anyone to get hurt even if they fell off or out. We even had a semi pro cross country runner on the back who could get off and out pace us on foot on some sections. LOL

The problem with some new riders is that they often feel like they have mastered the machine after only an hour or so, which is more dangerous than when they first step on it "unaware and cautious". The 700xx is probably one of the hardest atvs to master the clutch on because it's geared higher than any other manual quad out there in stock form. you'd have to be an idiot to put a begginner on one in my opinion. It's simply too much machine. There is a reason why they list these machines in classes.

I guess so. I did not know the 700 had a hand clutch.
My point being was about speed , when we are ice fishing 11 and 12 year old boys and girls take turns riding my Ski-Doo 165hp 800R e-tec around the lake at 30 mph when it can easily do 120 MHP.
Unlike a rough ATV trail you can safely get a snowmobile up to 100mph on a smooth frozen lake.

Fortunately, those 12 and 13 year olds seem to be responsible and well taught. But consider this, one minor mistake with the throttle or one moment of overconfidence on this incredibly high hp machine, and who knows what could happen. I truly hope you never have to deal with the regret and pain that many others are dealing with because they let their untrained/unsupervised children or other children operate machines that were never meant for children. I have witnessed the aftermath, and I am afraid that the only way for you to truly appreciate this is to experience it for yourself. As HondaR24 stated, "There is a reason why they list these machines in classes." Speed is irrelevant.

Exactly. Besides, what does a new rider typically do when they get in over their head, even just a tiny bit? "Oh $#@+!!!" And hold on tight. In that situation they are just as likely to grab full throttle as full brake. Driving a 100 plus hp side by side and it just takes a moment of poor judgement, the newbie is off the trail on their side. Hopefully not hurt.

This kids parents were there and gave them the go ahead . These kids have there own 340 Polaris Indy lites beginner snowmobiles which can hit 60 mph, so if they wanted to get crazy they could do it on their own.
Same principles apply ,once we get off the lake and on to the narrow twisty trail nobody is getting much over 30mph no matter how good you are or what you ride.
