Default 400ex

I have a 2006 Honda 400ex and was riding it and it quit when I slammed my brakes and clutch because there was a tree on the trail and when I tried starting it back up it was knocking but once it cooled down it turns over but won't start.
I've got spark compression timings good and electrical good I cleaned carb and even tried with starter fluid but still won't fire any suggestions

How did you verify spark/compression/timing?

If you have truly verified those it should run on SF...

Did you check your valves? Where was this "knocking" coming from?

I checked spark by taking out plug and see if it gave off spark and I put a new plug I checked timing by see if the cam was lined up with the T mark on side of motor. I used a compression test tool and it was all good and still wouldn't fire. I did not check valves and I couldn't really tell where knocking was coming from I think top end but not positive

Good strong blue spark or something else??

Yeah...I'd rotate the crank and ensure those valves were opening/closing properly...knocking could have been in head...

Well...getting hot is what air cooled motors do...did you check your oil? I'd drain & check for metal particles if you think there was a pump failure...

Did you check the operation of the valves?
