Hi I’m new and I have a sporty 600 I love it! It has enough power for my needs plus it’s fast. I’m a two stroke enthusiast normally but the maintenance is getting old. I collect two strokes and keep them in mint condition . My favorite is my 250r three wheeler holy smoke it is faster than my banshee by far but very dangerous.

If you're keeping the stock air filter, the carb should be fine as it is. If you go with a k&n or similar filter, you will need to rejet. What jets to switch to, I don't know. That may have been covered over in the Polaris section. If you can't find anything by searching there, just start a new thread on it.

Changing just the primary spring is fairly easy to do for the clutch. If you want the most from it, get a complete clutch kit. A little more complicated, but a lot more results.

Default Air box??

Ok my sporty 600 is getting better I replaced spark plugs without removing tank or anything how I don’t know now I was about to take carb out and I noticed huge black hose with yellow filter on it coming from top of engine assuming it’s a breather hose well it was attached to nothing but I believe should be attached to air box as there are two ports on box on both sides. I attached hose to box so still one open connection on air box. Plug it? Breather hose connects to air box from engine? Help me with this air box please. It will start and idle and die after 20 minutes now keep in mind the carb hasn’t been touched in years it sat for 5 years I changed all fluids front and rear diffs and engine and transmission. Brakes work well but sqeak. Advice??

Default Air box

Thank you so much it’s really nice to be on this site. I am a pipefitter in Boston and I can weld I can do electric I can do it all as long as I’m awake and not sleeping if that makes sense but there are certain things that I just don’t know therefore I do not want to cause more issues. I bought this 2004 sportsman 600 with a plow hoping to just jump on it and ride it with no issues but after finding out it’s been sitting for five years inside I know that it needs some love. But I change the spark plugs and changed all fluids and the brakes work OK they’re a little squeaky and I’m assuming that’s due to sitting And that’s not a big issue but my issue is my airbox. I cleaned it change the filter and put on a kind of a mesh type filter cover or pre-filter and there are two holes coming out of the box that we’re not attached to anything and while I was changing the spark plugs I noticed the breather tube coming from the top of the engine was not connected to anything so upon some research I hooked it up to the airbox but there’s another Port that is open and I’m wondering if I should plug it? I don’t wanna bring it to the dealership I can do anything but the manual doesn’t tell me anything and by the way I am very new to this site and even how to use it correctly So I apologize to Everyone that uses the site but I need some advice on the airbox? Please and thank you much
