Brand new to Atv world

Default Brand new to Atv world
Hi folks I just got my starter manual ATV it’s a tao Tao 250. The only liquid I put in it was Gas seem to come with oil. For some reason when I put it in reverse or forward attends to stall a lot of the time.
Forgive my ignorance here just trying to learn. What am I doing wrong?
