Is it much more then anyother sport quad?

More importantly. Is it way more costly to insure then a 500 sport/utility?

I just picked my KFX700 today and my insurance jumped $30 a year. went from a 87 Quadzilla LT500R to this. It was $150 a year, now it's $180, but this also includes insurance for the 6x10 trailer that i haul them on. I think it's a pretty darned good deal, but since i have two cars, a fifth wheel, my house all through them, ya think they'd cut me a break somewhere.. progressive was 310 per year when called at the kawasaki dealership... way too high.

laters..

In Ohio ..... the liabiltiy is the same no mater what quad it is ..... the rest is dependent on the "value" of the quad....
not what quad it is.

So it really depends on the insurance company.

That's true. But it also takes into consideration the cc of the machine due to the chances of acting silly on a 700 versus a 90. They asked what i want to insure it for as far as cost, but the insurance guy also asked how many cc's it had. Some insurance companies won't even insure over a certain amount of cc's. I know locally, AAA of michigan said they don't want to insure any snowmobile over 600cc or a road bike over 750cc. i asked him about my quad, and he said frankly, they don't ever have many claims submitted against the ATV's that are insured, and if they ever do, they are thefts..said most atv's are utility type... so i chuckled inside...

best of luck

Another thought about insurance .. in Ohio. Both of my quads insurance cost the same.... because I declared the
same "value". I asked the Lady how they determined the value if one got stolen or totaled. She said it is a "declared value policy".... so what ever value I buy the policy for ... that is what they pay in a total loss.
It did not seem to mater how many CC's it was ??

But I know that there are other factors.... like age of rider. I have a 20 year old friend with a Z400 that checked on insurance ..... the liability part was the same as mine...... the the other part was double my price ( I am 52)

FYI The cost of full coverage, 100K/300K with a declared value of $6500 was $275 per year for each quad

I just got an insurance policy started on my V-Force through Allstate. Paying $341/yr - declared Value of $7000 - and they did ask what size the engine was. I have no idea whether that's good or bad as far as pricing goes.. never had a motorcycle or ATV insured before.

When I called to switch my insurance from my scrambler 400 to my V-Force, the broker called the company to see if there were any extra costs because it was a 700 and so far there is nothing special about it, it snuck in same as the 400. It cost about $30.00 more a year for the fire & theft coverage because of the higher value.

My ZRT800 on the other hand is killing me, it's more than my truck & the quad together, and I have had no claims on any of my insurance.
