Default Works Shocks are on order for 700

I just got done ordering my front and rear shocks for my 700. It was a tuff choice between Elka and Works. But I like having the adjustability of a pre-load, and Elka only offers the no pre-load shock. This no pre-load also lowers the atv allmost 3" which is good for stability and cornering, but it didn't give me the option of stiffning the shocks. I can loosen the pre load of the works to make it lower and softer for CC racing, then crank the pre load for MX and jumping. I just like having the most adjustable shock. So for $1408, I got the Pro Series triple rate front with pre load and a piggie back with compression. ($699 for the pair). The rear is a pre load shock with a piggie back that has rebound and compression. ($709) Should be here in less then two weeks. For those who might want the Elka's, The price I got was $1440 plus shipping. The fronts were triple rate, no pre load with rezzie($783) and the rear was dual rate, no pre load with rezzie($657)

I haven't decided about the rear yet .... I did order triple rate Elkas for the front...... I hope they serve
me well for trail riding.

I heard that the no pre load is very good for trail riding, but could be a little soft for any kind of MX riding or jumping. I do some MX riding, so I didn't want to limit my kind of riding. With the Works, I can soften it up for trails, then stiffen for track. So if you ride on mostly trails, the Elka's will serve you well.

I just purchased a V-Force Green Queen today. I got a quote from Elka for the type of desert racing I do. Here's what they said:
**********************************
Front Pair:
Pair adjustable in compression only, in remote reservoir or piggyback:
Triple rate spring set up with self-sagging device: $895.00 US
(400ex, 250R, Raptor, Z-400, Kfx400, Cannibal, Blaze, Fx400, KFX700 V-Force)
If you are looking for maximum wheel travel, you should consider the compression only
shocks. They offer 3/4 inch more of shaft travel, so 2inch more wheel travel, compared to
the fully adjustable (except for long travel and Z400, Predator500, Kfx400, DS650 these set-up
have the same amount of travel either compression only or rebound and compression)

Back Shock:
The rear shocks come's fully adjustable (compression and rebound) in a remote
reservoir. Double rate rear shock with self-sagging device: $775.00 US

We can build those shocks and send them to you in 3 weeks or less.
**************************
I may try a race with the stock setup first. $1600+ is pretty pricey. Yet I've heard others rave about their Elkas.

Hey GE4X4 - For the front shocks are those for your wieght or are they a one size fits all riders? Im 215 6' 1" tall Ive bottom out my fronts twice know and want to up grade them. I ride trails too but we have weekend rides were we go out to find big air out on the local mx track so do you think that front set you order would work for me?

They are being built to my riding weight and riding skill. I'm about 215lbs with gear. Then they asked what kind of rider I was, beginner, intermedate, advanced, or pro. Then I told them I ran about 70% trails and 30% MX. So these shocks are built to your specks. You also get a 30 day warrenty for satifacsion, if you don't like the ride, send it back and they will adjust were needed. I will let everyone know how they are when they come in.

I've got the Elka Elites front and rear you can adjust the ride height on the front and the rear which transfers the force onto the stiffer spring sooner to stiffen up the shock you also have compression adjustments for slow and fast compression so you can set one up for whoops and bumps and the other for jumps. I love these shocks the v-force wheelies only when asked now and the handling is like a porshe 911 on dirt I have not come close to bottoming out the shocks and I get big air at the track at my house.

I never saw or was able to ride with the Elka's on, but I'm curious, how can you adjust your ride height with no pre load? I was never told by Elka I could do that.

I put my Elka's on today ... There is a very long section of thread to adjust the pre load on the springs.
