Your supposed to break it in for 10 hours using various speeds, but without going past half throttle. It does have a throttle limiter that you can screw in so you don't get too crazy while breaking it in...I'm not sure if there is any other trick to it. I think you change the oil and filter at 10 hours also (at least I am).

I rode mine in a tight trail today for the first time, and I feel my 250 ex is WAY better for that type of tight trail riding. In the sand pit the 400 really shines though! I love the power this thing has..I'm sure you will too, the ride is sooo plush and it has plenty of travel so hard jumping is nice! Good luck, I know you'll love it!

Yes, just read your manual, I would at least break it in the 10 hours it suggests. Make sure to change it through all the gears and go about half throttle through all of them. I have heard if you don't break it in properly you can loose some pretty signifigant horsepower numbers. Be sure and watch that frame around the shock mounts, mines fine so far but I wouldn't want to have a crack or break and not know it and then go and jump it and the thing crack apart and kill me.

hahah first time i took it out full throtle in higest gear! Man it got the best of me 24 hours later, its fine
But i suggest you get an hour meter. Because when you get 10 hours, your supposed to bring it the the shop and get a "official oil change" Meh i did it by myself. And get nerf bars
