Default Old biker with New machine

Hello, I am fairly new to this Quad stuff. I have ridden bikes for many years and have recently retired my KX-250 for a 87 Warrior. (knee surgery and age, along with the wife helped make that decision) I loved the ride the Warrior had but wanted more, So I then sold the yamaha and went for the "V" 700. I have orders in hand to go to San Diego and plan to literally ride out the remainder of my enlistment there. I am not to proud to tell you that I don't know squat about the mods you can do to this machine, But I would like to go faster!! It doesn't seem to have the rush that the KX had but I'm sure it there. I don't know where to ride in California or what you must do to be legal. What about noise level restrictions? Are there any clubs I can get in? What tires and mods are best and for that matter what type of riding will I be doing. I am riding in some ATV parks in Iowa now and have rode the KX and Warrior many times at BADLANDs in Indiana. Did most of my bike riding in mountians in Colorado. I believe that this sport is a great way to spend my off time and am looking forward to meeting/riding as many of you as I can.

Thanx
