Default P650 vs Scrambler 2x4 with clutch and exhaust mod...

Here is my exp. (some may not agree or like it at all).
I have both a Z400 and a P650. On the trails the P650 is VERY heavy and slow compaired to my Z400 or my friends 400ex. In the woods the P650 can not keep up. I have ridden it, friends have ridden it and no one can keep up on it with the group Iride sport quads with.
Does this mean the P650 is bad -NO!! It is a GREAT quad. IT works and works hard. I have towed many loads and it did awesome, been mudding with Foremans and pulled them out (I have mudlites so that helps). It is great if you are out in logging areas or somewhere that is rough. Yes it rides rough compaired to IRS but it is not bad by any means.
The reason I bought the Z400 is I missed the speed in the woods, nible handling, and "flickability" of a sport quad. No matter which way you look at it the P650 still is around 650lbs once you add oil, gas, etc. Now throw on a winch, some better tires, a small box, etc and you are over 700lbs. In reality that is HEAVY and this is a LARGE quad. Here in Mi I have had it get hung up on the marked state trails because it was wider than the trail is cut (and it is long).
Anyway this is my thoughts.... If you ride with all sport quads I would think hard of a sport quad, if you want to mud get a 4x4. As for the Pol. - No luck there, seems like the few I been around were always breaking down so I been scared of them personally (plus they are VERY Heavy).
Think about or ride a 400cc sport machine (or even a raptor - U can easily fix the handling issues and they are VERY powerful and a good bike too). The "smaller" bikes will surprise you with their power, now they are no V700 but they also are much more nible and light for riding trails.
Good luck and I hope you find one you enjoy. Everyone looks and thinks about diff. things take it all in and see what fits and makes you happy. Almost all the bikes out there are good and all that pluses and minues find what fits your needs.
Good luck

I agree, after riding my Z400 for a couple of hours and then I jump on my P650 to run in the water and cool down you can tell a big difference. The P650 doesn't feel all that powerful anymore, hehe. I love my P650 and will be selling my Z400 to my friend soon so we can compare them on the trails and fireroads at the same time to see if its my imagination or if its really that much slower.

You have to remember guys, I already have a Suzuki Z400 and I don't like it. Yes it has power galore, but I personally don't like messing with the clutch on the trails and hills, as well as I always feel somewhat beat up from riding it do to that low end jerkyness. On a straight away its a blast ripping thru the gears, but on trails I find it some what exhausting negotiating up and down thru all the gears while trying to handle hills, dips, sharp turns, creeks and the like.

Perhaps the KFX700???????......

Didn't notice you had a Z400, hehe. Go test drive a V700 and see how you like it. I think an auto suits me more than a manual tranny quad now. I like to hill climb and spin my tires and an auto works great for that stuff, I too feel worn out on my Z after a ride. Thats because I'm out of shape. Go for test drives and decide that way.

I cant say I mind the clutch but I can understand that some people do not prefer it. As for being tired out afterwards, I feel the P650 is a KILLER compaired to the z400. I did a 45 mile ride on the P650 and was just wooped (more than once) and on the Z400 I do 50 and am still begging to ride some more. I feel the weight wears me out more than anything and would think that would be the same on the V700 (but it may be easier to toss around). I keep hearing that the Suz. 4x4's are fairly sporty so that could be an option to look into. Sounds like you are really interested in the V700 so I would try and find someone that will let you test one out and get a little feel for it. You dont want to buy the wrong one and there is no better way to know what U like than to ride one and feel for yourself.
Good luck!

Well guys I went and got myself a V-Force today and I must say I am confident I made the right decision! This thing is AWESOME!!

Thanks to all of you for the great input you have offered in helping me make my decision. Now can someone point me to the websites that offer performance mods for the GREAT GREEN BEAST?

I truly love this new machine.....

Congrats on the new purchase!!! I think you made the right decision for you.... next time go get a prairie. Just kidden... i haven't had a chance to ride the mighty v yet but from what i've read and what i've heard it sounds pretty impressive.

As far as your mods go look into getting some sort of an after market air filter... twin air, k&n, uni filter. I personally would recommend a twin air... i love mine!!

Some of these other guys with v's are gonna have to help ya out with other mods.

Well congrats again on the purchase hope it suites you well.

Hi bbertram,

As everyone will tell you personal preference will play a big part in what you like but I can tell you that I have NEVER liked my Z400. I always thought it was way to jerky at low speeds which means it was only good for "GO FAST" riding. I always felt beat up after riding it (at least on my farm, which is rough terrain), so that tells me the suspension is somewhat lacking for rider comfort......it just was not the machine for me personally or maybe I am not the die hard racing enthusiast that some of these guys are. So I am keeping that machine for one of my best freinds to ride (he loves the Z400).

The 700 VForce however is exactly the right machine for me. The suspension is awesome, which to me means it handles the bike well and gives a pleasant and predictable ride without beating me up. I would compare it to a cadillac with a racing suspension if that is possible. I have seen where some guys do change out the front or even all the shocks for there personal preference and I am just going to have to ride the bike more to see if I need to do that(I have been taking it somewhat easy since I am working thru the 10 hour break in period). At 519lbs dry weight you would expect it to feel heavy, but it sure doesn't feel like it weighs that much, which is a tribute to the balance of power and suspension (and power to weight ratio). I can fling it, power slide, do wheelies, 360's are a breeze....this thing is just DANG FUN!

The acceleration is "to die for". Make no mistake, this dude is FAST, and supposedly after the breakin period it only gets faster. Most of all it is a pure JOY to ride...FUN FUN FUN

Another thing I like is it only goes as fast as you want it to, it's not like you are stuck in a specific powerband. My 11 year old son (weighs Eighty pounds or so) can hop on it and have a ball on the trails (with strick instructions not to hammer the throttle).

I had to go to three dealers before I could find one that would let me ride one, so I definately recommend if you have not rode one that you do so.

..... And did I say it sounds like a Freaking Ford Mustang V-8 on steriods? I LOVE IT!
