praire 650 EBS question
a friend of mine was riding his 650 when the 2WD/4WD light started flashing. the manuel says it indicates a problem with the engine braking system. after restarting the quad several times it reset itself. does anyone know what this actually means or is wrong with it?

Check the fuse, mine did the same thing, fuse was blown, I still haven't resolved all of the problem yet, for mine, I might have to actually replace the actuator... although I haven't tried resetting it yet... not enough hours in a day... NYROK's site is full of great info on the 650...Have A Good One >>> WAM

I have already replaced my EBC acctuator, and the machine is in the shop right now getting a new one again. The actual motor began making very strange noises, we all know the noises our machines make when you shut them down. This will stick out it will be different from the normal noises. Both times mine did this the motor was burned out with in the month. Hope this helps.

I wonder if these actuators are sensitive to road salt...I got caught in a few Ice storms last year, & my quad was on an open trailer ( got pretty covered with the extra salt they put on the roads during the Ice storms )...ROADRASHRON... does your quad get exposed to road salt ????

Not too much road salt, I ride on the road plowing but that's it. I belive it could be caused by towing at slow speeds. I have a tow behind mower that I tow at about 4 mph. at the low speed every time I let off the gas the engine braking is put on, maybe I'm just wearing them out.
My only other thought was sand, I ride in a lot of water with sand bottom, maybe the sand is getting in the belt housing and messing up the motor somehow. Although my clutch sheeves look fine and one would think that an excesive amount of sand in the housing would hurt more than just the EBC motor. Hope this helps.
