DOESNT TURN OVER UNTIL SEVERAL TRYS,THEN IT JUST DOES THAT TURNS OVER.NEED SOME PRECISE INFO HERE TO GET IT BACK ON THE ROAD .10 HRS TOPS ON IT.WHEN IT DOES START IT DIES 10 SECONDS LATER.HEARD IT COULD BE VAPOR LOCK AS I LEAVE GAS ON ALWAYS,BUT WHERE IS THE HOSE I TEMP. DISCONNECT TO RECTIFY PROBLEM OR COULD THIS BE SOMETHING ELSE.IM JUST ABOUT READY TO GO BACK TO MY OLD BRAND WITH NO PROBLEMS LIKE THIS.

 

Its probably fuel locked, you can take out a spark plug and turn it over a few times. That is mostly caused from hauling it with the fuel switch on. Turn it off when transporting and it should fix the problem.

what year P650 ???

Have you checked the oil level ? and if so ..... is over full and smell like gasoline?

Does it run on only one cylinder for a while after it starts ?

 

DONE DEAL.OIL WAS 75% GAS.DRAINED IT AND LIT IT A DROP LIKE LIGHTER FLUID IT WAS HIGHLY FLAMMABLE.THANKS BUT I THINK ITS GOING TO BE FOR SALE.LAST QUAD DID NOT DO THIS.2003 650 PRAIRE 12 HRS FOR SALE 5800.

 

Most likely cause is the springs on the choke plungers. Costs less than $10 in parts ... takes about
one hour to change them. I did that to my P650 a few months ago ...... I have not turned the
fuel off since, and no gas in the oil since [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

I don't think I would sell the most highly rated 4x4 ATV on the planet just for a minor problem like that. I would follow vforcer's advice or at leat keep the fuel valve turned off, or fix the tank vent.

It is a good thing people like Edison, bell, ford, etc. didn't give up on things that easily. Wow!
