I noticed that some of you have talked about cutting the factory plastic to give it more of a performance look. I took off the mudflaps that come stock and it made a big improvement in the overall appearance. The only thing that I am worried about is the possibility of overheating since the mudflaps also act as an air dam for the radiator. Have any of you had any problems with overheating after you removed your mudflaps?

I also had the idea of cutting my plastics to give it a more racy look but didn't out of fear that my wife would freak out if she came in to the garage and saw me running the router over my new bike.

One more question and I will leave you all alone. I am very curious about upgrading the stock suspension and also adding about 2 inches of length to the swingarm. I can't find anything anywhere that will allow me to do this. Do you guys have any suggestions or web pages that advertise this kind of stuff? Thanks for any info you can give me.

TeamGreen,

In regards to overheating you should put your fears to rest. I have had my mud flaps off since I've owned my Mojave and have experienced no problems whatsoever. Just ensure your coolant is full and mixed to a suitable ratio for your climate. I use nothing but Peak antifreeze in all my ATV's and muscle car. It has a higher boiling point than all of the others, I do believe.

Majority of my riding (on the Mojave) is through rough, swampy, and tight trails. Probably the absolute worst for cooling considering your slow constant speed.

Regarding shocks, my dealer informed me they had a supplier that custom makes shocks. I just told them the bike, my weight with gear, and type of trails and viola! A set of front shocks with tri-rate springs (adaptable to cans) cost me $340. It takes them about 3 weeks to come in (I'm still waiting). If you want cans it's an extra $100. If your seriously considering some shocks drop me a line and I'll get the information for you.

P.S.

As far as performance parts for Kawi's check these links

http://rageperformance.com/

http://www.theatvstore.com/

http://www.mfgsupply.com/

Or if all else fails, try your local dealer.

Thank you fellas. BTW, I found a web page that had some pictures of a fellow mojave brethren that had his Mojave all decked out for racing. I will find the address and post it up here for all to see. Dude had put black plastic on it and I have to say WOW! Nice looking machine.
