air box and exhaust mods

I have a few Questions for everyone, is there anything I can do to increase air flow besides a DG snorkel? Does drilling holes in my air box cover help, which is better? Second is my exhaust, does nyroc's exhaust mods work just as well as buying a aftermarket exhaust and what is the best performance upgrade I can do for the money. Thanks

The best mods for the money are deffinately Nyroc's exhaust mod and a new air filter. I prefer the twin air. I think it allows a little less dirt and dust to get through. I used vents in my air filter lid that open and close. they work pretty well.
I am thinking of soon buying to holeshot mod. For $100.00. That sounds like it would be worth the money.

RIPSAW650... 1st, Why would you not want to replace the ( IMO ) too small stock snorkle, with the D.G. snorkle??, besides drilling out the muffler, & doing the work yourself, it is probably one of the cheapest ways to "increase the air flow" through your engine... anything that "really" increases the air flow through your engine, will require a jet change... if you drill out the muffler, & it doesn't require a jet change, then the air flow bottle neck is somewhere else... if you replace the stock snorkle, change to a Twin Air, or K&N filter & drill out the muffler, you are most likely going to need to change the jetting... I designed my own "ram air type" air induction system, & during it's design, I talked to several people with flow benches, the air intake system is much more complex than most people would have you believe. air temps, densities, velocities, & flow patternes must be taken into consideration...I'd definately not reccommend the filter box holes...the best bang for the buck right now for the 650 / 700 Prairie is with out question a Hole Shot module... the cost of the module is realatively low, easy to install, & you will see big results with out any other modifications... I just installed a new Pendland series Big Gun exhaust, & aside from the fact that it looks nicer, weighs less, & sounds great...I didn't honestly see any performance increase from the new exhaust, & it cost big bucks... the 2003 air induction system is much improved over the 2002 models, as it is... put a hole shot module on & you'll already have a machine that only the new 700 Prairie will best...Have A Good One...WAM

FARTMAN...Basically some people cut off the back ( at the weld ) of the stock muffler, & drill out the baffles with long drill bits, then reweld the rear of the muffler back on, for less restriction on the muffler... for a detailed proceadure, & other important & informational facts & proceadures, visit NYROC's web site at...

RIPSAW650, you and I are at the same altitude and probably riding at the same altitudes and this is what I have found and I would do if I where to start over, stay with the stock tire size, not brand, install a DG snorkle, a twin air filter, nyrocs exhaust modification, a DG holeshot module. Jet the carbs with kawa jets 138 front and 142 rear and leave your needles stock. For performance over 8000 ft and up to 11000 ft I have 6 univents in the aircleaner lid which I have duct taped over till I get up there and I uncover and have found it works great in the thin air. Hopes this gives you some guidelines on what you want to do.
