What jetting for DMC Alien on V?
#1
I just got the Alien exhaust for my V-Force and have it jetted at 138/140, my elevation is around or below 1000 ft. I went riding over the weekend and it was backfiring, what does everyone have their exhaust jetted at?

I have seen on another forum "DMC/Alien recommends 138 frt and 140 rr jets... "...so you should be right w/ jetting...amybe some other "fix" will be suggested.
On another note....did you install it yourself? How is the fit / finish? How is the HP increase?
I really like the way these look on the Force....and I'm thinking about them seriously.

I had the dealship install the exhaust and rejet it. They said that it went on pretty easy and it looks awsome!! The dyno said that it increased it around 7HP, I can tell a difference with them being on, I stood it straight up and tore off the grab bar!!

I got my DMC Aliens yesterday but I won't be able to install them until this weekend. I am planning to try them with stock jetting and see how it runs.
Any thoughts on how this will work?

You will be running lean. Go ahead and put the jets in 142 and 145, don't half *** it. Do it right or don't do it! You will gain nothing with pipes and not rejetting.

I agree that without rejetting your gain would be unnoticeable. Think about it more air being able to flow through the exhaust. In my belief it only makes sense to modify the air box as well as jet up your V. I did no airbox mods at first and my bike just didn't have the last 1/8 of throttle that it should. you need the extra air...it's all about flow. Try the TPI vents from thunderproducts.com they rock and only cost about $50.00. you can adjust the amount of air to suit your elevation; nice fit and finish as well. I mounted my pair side by side right on top of the airbox lid. Good luck jetting, It's not that hard to change the mains, just make sure you have a good phillips screwdriver and know that the dudes at the local shop will be charging 50-60 bucks an hour to do something you can do. Change the front primary clutch spring to a slightly stiffer and longer one and it will pull the mid-top end better, don't worry about the rear clutch spring, the EPI dsr12 "red" spring should work good, it will raise your engagement to about 2000-2100 rpm and shift out at a higher rpm, which is what you want with your new pipe's.......
