Try this: order a 145 main jet, either from a dealer, or Mike P, and take the main jet out of the rear carb (142) and put it in the front, then put a 145 in the rear carb, you may need to turn the mix screws out about 1/2 turn or so..

the 650 and 700 use the small round keihin main's, I think they go into the 160's or 170's, that's way rich, the 145 front and 148 rear is about 3 sized richer than stock, that should be plenty, you may have to put .060 worth of shim's under the needle'd if the mid range isn't rich enough also, the air screw's should be ok somewhere in the 3 1/2 turn's out range, better to start rich and work your way down.........

I have an 03 P 650. I have had nothing but trouble with the jetting. I have the DG snorkel and I did the Nyrock muffler mod and bought a dyno jet kit. The dyno jet kit was terrible. so I called dyno jett. After talking to several people there who told me the air snorkel was causing the problem I asked for a manager. I was given to a man named Mike Corry. After some conversation with him he said he would look into the problem. He called me back a couple of days later and said that he had gone out and borrowed an 03 P 650. He explained tha the 03 had a redesigned air box and this made the 02 jet kit too lean. So he made a new kit for the 03 and sent it to me. I installed the new kit but this needle is too rich I had to drop the needle 1 clip position to make it run right at about 1/4 throttle at 1200ft and I had taken of the modified pipe and put a stock one back on. I go to the mountains to in the summer so at 7300 ft more problems. The quarter throttle possition crusing at about 26-35 mph the bike was sputtering. But if I gave just a little throttle or full throttle the bike ran strong even at this altitude. So I dropped the needle two more clip positions and dropped the mains 1 size. this made it run better but now it was running hot and having small backfires through the carbs. Mike Corry at DJ told me to take out the air snorkel which I did. this didn't help. He is now sending me another needle to try to fix the rich condition at a quarter throttle. I would like to run the snorkel and pipe and a uni filter. Can any one help me? I don't want to re jett every time I go up north. my other quad a rancher 350 works fine at both altitudes and so does my friends Vinson 500. I don't care if I loose some performance at 7400 ft I just don't want the bike spitting and sputtering.

Clark, I live at 5000 ft. elevation and ride to 11000 ft. and I to have played with every combination of jet and needle and the best combo I have found for the thin air is first throw away the dyna jets, use the dj needles set at the 4th notch, that is the second one down from the top, if you stay below 8000 ft. you can use a kawa jet 142 front and 145 rear, with the dg snorkle, modified exhaust, twin air filter and 6 univent in the lid. Operating any higher than that, up to 11000 ft I now went to 138 front and 142 rear and have had great success. I found that closing the univents with tape you get more from the dg snorkle at the 5000-7000 ft level and take the tape off when I go above that. Hope this helps
