Someone stole my grooves (650)

Someone stole my grooves.
I know I had l grooves the first time I changed my belt, but now they are gone. It appears that the black drive spring has been reducing slippage, and the pulley faces wearing evenly. You guys may laugh, but the big scratch I made in the driven pully is also gone (and no grooves there too).
This boggle my mind. I get grooves on brake disks and they never get better. Warped rotors just get worse. I would never think those grooves would go away.
I am on my second belt and it is still very tight. However, it is worn down almost as much as my first belt that slipped a lot. It appears the black spring has prevented my second belt from getting glazed (and slipping). My first belt slipped realy bad at 450 miles. This second belt has never slipped, and doesn't dream of slippping and has 800 miles on it.
I took the cover off this evening to investigate why my 650 top speed was down. Well, I was mistaken about why the top speed is down. The drive pulley does open all the way, but the belt doesn't go down into the driven pulley all the way. The belt is either too narrow or too long.
Although I could keep using this belt, I think I will get a 360 belt soon and try it to get the top speed back.

Maybe because the black spring is TOO stiff?
