Default major top speed loss on P650??

Hey got a question, today when I rode I got on an open road and opened her up, at 46-47mph she decided that what as fast as she was going to go. I made sure the air filter was clean and it still wasn't going any faster. It just sounded like it was suffocating and couldn't go any faster. After my 27 mudlite install I dropped about 5-8 mph top end and then after I sunk it once it dropped another 2-3 so in total I should have only lost about 10 mph top end.

But I've now lost almost 20 mph top end. Any reccomendations?? I think next weekend I'll do a valve adjustment and see if the carbs are clean, while I'm at it I'll probably change all fluids and just see if anything changes. I've noticed that since I installed the DG holeshot I've never been able to cruise over 50 mph, could this have anything to do with it.

Guys I need some help I hate to get out run by a kodiak or rancher on the trails. Please help!!!

Try unhooking the Holeshot and see what happens. Some people do see a top end loss with a module, especially up hills.
You have a problem that really needs to be resolved if you lost 3 mph after drowning your machine. Most likely carb/air filter problems or a clutch/belt problem.

I know A guy had the same problem. A wire came off the CDI box. Any way thats what the shop told him. Runs good now. Good luck.

If a wire comes off the CDI wouldn't it just die or not run at all? I thought it was a continuous cycle through the cdi and if 1 wire disconnected then it wouldn't work. I may be wrong but this is what I thought.

the black spring will slow your top speed also. Has the speed lose occured since you installed the spring?

That all depends on whitch wire comes off. I just cut one wire on Vinsons CDI box to get rid of the rev limiter and didn't affect any thing else.

Sounds to me like you were in LOW and didn't realize it at the time. The only reason I say that is because LOW runs out of gear at about that speed.
