Default Belt light

Anyone having problem with the belt light coming on repeatedly without any problem with the belt

I have about 115 hours on the machine when the belt light came on, I have just recently replaced the belt (only because I wanted a spare, the belt was still perfect), so when the light came on I check the belt and the switch, it was not tripped, so I performed the procedure to reset the light and all was fine.

Now this weekend it came on again at 160 hours, the switch was not tripped and the belt was fine, so I reset the light again and Off I went.

I know that the light is supposed to be programmed to come on at a certain hourly interval but twice with no problem to the belt or the switch????

Its a simple procedure that only takes 20 seconds if you trust the belt is fine and the switch is not tripped but in case you should always take the cover off and I hate doing that because I have a tendency to over tighten everything I own and have already snapped one of the bolts that hold on the cvt cover and I am afraid If I take it off again I not going to have anything left to bolt the thing to. Try stripping the wires above the connector and soldering them together. Possible a shorted switch or somethin is doing that.

Yank that trip switch off and fill the hole with goop (mixed with a little black enamel paint). That trip switch is insulting. Only people that are so dumb that they wouldn't go get their belt fixed when it started squealing would ever need it.

I hate doing that because I have a tendency to over tighten everything I own and have already snapped one of the bolts that hold on the cvt cover
- C'mon bubba, snapping bolts and stripping threads ruins stuff real fast. Lay off the coffee, Jolt, Mtn Dew or whatever causes the urge to overtighten. If the kids have been misbehaving and/or the wife is on the rag, don't go working on the 650 untill you are calm.

Even if you have giant strength, you oughta start using a small torque wrench or at least get a smaller person to do the tightening job for you. Broken bolts can be a real stinker to get out of an aluminum block. Bad. Slap the hand. Bad.

Classic feedback Nyroc, LOVED IT

my P-360 belt light has a tendincy to come on for no reason on occasion, I just ignore it & reset the light.. Does not require any bolt snugging or wrench tugging, just interchange those wiring harnesses & switch them back & your good to go..

Hello Nyroc
very good Idea I do keep a close eye on my belt and probably wouldn't need to stupid light anyways. going to do it tonight!!

As for the broken bolt I really didn't tighten it that much ( story I used to tell my dad when I broke his stuff) I know its a very bad habit and I'm not easy on myself when I do something like that my head always takes a betting from the closeing solid obect there is and I still never learn

Hi Bubba, and yes, good feedback Nyroc.. I had the similar problem in my younger, hot rodding days, exept I had a very bad habit of stripping the threads in aluminum tranny housings while upside down installing shift kits in friends cars..... very bad. Well, a good friend of mine that worked at the local Chevy dealer as a line mech. was there cussing me one night while helping me install some helicoil. He put his head in some transmission fluid, cussed again, then got up and walked over to the work bench out of my line of sight.. he came back and handed me my snap on ratchet sawed off and filed smooth where it would JUST stick out of my closed fist. 20 years later, I still have it, still use it, and have broken or stripped no more bolts or threads.. just an idea..
Walmart, 8$ rachet, cut if off at 4". You should be good to go.

The reset instructions for resetting that light on a P650/700 are on my website, along with any other info I have gathered for the P650,P700, and V700. I think the reset procedure for other newer kawi quads are very similar, but I don't know.

I try to get good tech tips saved so people don't have to keep retyping the same thing over and over. Some people have helped me out by writing them for me.

Badditude, I saw a few wrenches like that. Thats a good idea. I just keep my hand on the first four inches of the ratchet when the bolt is small.
