Bad news...no CDI for the 650....

Stakk, I think Nabor is blowing smoke, you can't do what he says with a frequncy generator connected to the speed sensor input.
DG and Alltoys have ignitions that work (not production yet), but they are more sophisticated and I am sure they will cost more than $125. Nabor's module would be more than $125 if it did good stuff like DG and Alltoys are working on.
Of course stakk, I am believing what the DG technician says about this. I am just sitting here with my fingers crossed for the first few guys that bought one from Nabor to tell us that there is no speed increase.
28 degrees stinks. 32 is what we need. DG and alltoys are going to give it to us and that should give us a lot more power and less engine heat. I know form experience that retarded timing makes extra heat and wastes gas. We don't need that.
Mickey, I have not doubt that your 800cc motor was more powerful than the 633, especially at 11:1. However, I bet it would have run even better if you were able to control the timing the right amount at every rpm, not just help it along with a key.

I know a better CDI would work better but most people are not building a full race utility, they just want the power to smoke there buddy's,climb any hill they want and to pullthose big nasty tire's they got out of any mud hole they want, and a new CDI is not going to do that.

I'm thinking the CDI will do that, ask alltoys. He does mud runs with his ignition and it helps alot. Anyways, with a big bore like your 800 and the CDI watch out. For me reliability is key and I think for alot of us it is too. Reliability for 3-4 years, I think big bores will not last that long. What I believe may not be true but I think alot of people think that way and are scared of that.

I would be willing to do an independent test.
Diamond g, Nabor, Red650 and Freedom send me your best modular,
Mickey, you make my motor an 800,
I've got a digital tach that will record RPM's speed and times, we'll put each to the ultimate test, pulling a 10,000 lb drag sled.
I'll report on which gives the most power, on the same bike, with in the same time frame.
Then we'll do 300 - 350 ft drag times.

Stakk,
No module will make the quad go any faster but a few will help in getting there quicker than the rest this is what I have found.
Nyroc,
What brings you to the conclusion that the Nabors Modulator blows smoke. Nabors and Reds modulator delivers a higher frequency to the cdi it seems to hold the timeing advance steadier than the rest resulting in a faster climb to rev limit. One more thing, it is impossible to add timeing electronicaly to a fixed position. The cdi retards total timeing to use it when it is needed by holding back the signal from the pickup. The top end system from DG can not add timeing if it doesn't physically have it, if the quad only has 28* then that is it period. Only by installing a degree key can the said top end unit add the extra timeing.
Some body will have to prove to me that timeing can be added electronicaly. If and only if this is possible then why mess around with a 10% gain in rev limit and timeing go for broke. The quad will only go so fast before it hits valve float who are we protecting. It has been 2 years since the advent of the phantom Top End CDI its time to get off the pot.
Mickey,
I like your approach bottom end power/grunt is what makes or brakes a race or just general messing around. I have tried a key and found it does split but mostly because of my application. I also remember you would not sell me an 800 big bore as you thought I would install a blower to it. You are right I probably would LOL, if I did blow it up it would not have been your concern I always take full responsibility for my actions. In any race you can always hope you are the first to get to the first corner, hold on, from here you can control the race bottom end is King.
I am very close to haveing a working ignition that is programable with one unit and not programable with the other. I have found on our quad 36* works very well mostly to have full timeing to hit at or below 2500 rpm. Any and all raceing applications or playing around 2500 - 3000 rpm is key especially with no rev limiter. Before the September 1 I will have it working and dump the information to all. The only thing it will be pricey but I am sure there is computer guru that could help us out maybe DG's guru Electro Scott. Dyna Tech sells their hoped versions for other quads in the 400 - 500 range and this is where I would like to see it or better yet free download over the net.
I can not beleive the attention this CDI and Modulator posts produce maybe it is good as I think a promise of a new cdi would cure our wants. I say forget about the cdi, eliminate the cdi from the ignition no more problems period.

Alltoys, that electonic engineer guy has the spec for the stock CDI in his hands. He knows it inside and out. The stock CDI has two advance curves. The best you can hope for with a frequency generator is to stay on the good curve. It doesn't matter what freqency you use, or how it changes, ALL FREQUENCY GENERATORS PRODUCE THE SAME RESULTS AT BEST. The exception to that is the poor waveform on that freedom one caused a top speed loss, or droping the frequency below a certain threshold then the CDI goes into retard mode at takeoff. There is no relationship between advance and frequency other than the cutoff frequency. Below it you have retard, above it you have the normal curve.
Alltoys, I am not paid, I just hear conflicting stories and I have tended to believe the DG tech guy's story. I will be the first to admit I was on the wrong side if need be. I have no facts, one story sounds like hocus pocus to me. the DG tech has tried a variety of different frequencies and they all made the same results (until the freq goes too low, they you get a serious timing retard).
I am sure the Nabor will accept my apologies and my credit card if I am wrong?

If the waveform was that far out it would be the same as sending no signal to the CDI. The machine wouldn't drop back to the reverse map and its 10 degrees of advance; it would crap out completely and you'd be lucky to get 45mph out of it.
