What kind of exhaust did you have on your Mojave?

 

If you mean me. It was all stock.

 

I ordered a DG Chromepower system. There is a chrome header that I believe may be oversized by 1/8" or 1/4" - It looks larger than stock. and there is also a chrome muffler. It was only like $150 for both pieces out of Dennis Kirk which I bought because I didn't have much $$$. It was cheap so I didn't expect the very noticable gains which it provided. BUT there's no restriction, screens, or baffles in the muffler to quiet it. It's so loud that I kind of wish I went w/ a different system.

 

.... Yeah, when I was in the market for a quad- going almost 2 years now, after a good 16 year absence from the sport- I almost got a 300ex, and infact was eyeballing a 250x. But looking over all the specifications the kwacker won out! Although very similar to the 250x, the Honda lacked liquid cooling- which in this day ya gotta have water cooling, and I'm glad I went with the kwacker because it's very responsice to mods and, to be honest- I'm really impressed with that little 250! I think I'm gonna have to hog out a main jet for the carburetor though to let the beast breathe.
I'm real happy!

 

I dont know why the aftermarket hasnt gone after the only lquid cooled 4 stroke,they even have kits for klx 3oo but no klr[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img].WOnder when Kawasuki is gonna drop a KLR 650 engne in it an call it a super Mojave.THis bike would kill a v horse,just as much hp an a clutch to boot.Anyhows the dg system is loud an cheap for the same reason any 1 can make an open exhaust system.The R&D for the more complicated systems w baffles to flow well an keep noise down isnt a easy task.You kinda sacrifice 1 for the other an the aftermarket I believe have struggled w this for years.

 

I've found that the ditching of the airbox is a major contributor to a loud exhaust niose. I'm gonna cobble something up out of fiberglass matting to accomodate the clamp on UNI I'm running- granted the stock airbox/ snorkle setup practically suffocated the thing......

 

wonders of FMF made a powerbomb header w a TI pipe how much HP would it give this bike.Has any 1 tried a FMF powermax slp on or WB universal for the MO or KLR?

 

Would a 91 Mojave be liquid cooled as well? I was sent a picture of one I am looking at and it looks like the cylinder has fins on it.
The plastic does say 4 valve DOHC.

 

Yes- a 1991 mojave is water cooled, since their inception in 1987. It has fins in the head to further assist cooling and because the mold is shared with other models as well.
