I agree with cam650 on the stock dunlop tires being best for speed. I have ATRs now and love them but for straight line drag racing I know I would do better with the stock front tires/wheels and the stock rear wheel with the ATR 25x8 tire on it. That tire is only 1/4" narrower than the rear stock dunlop. The weights is one lb more than stock but much better traction.

I am still breaking my P700 in so I have not topped it out yet. I wound it up a little last night; but quickly backed off at 58MPH and had an unknown amount to go. The part that surprised me was how hard it was pulling up to that point. My p650 was a low 60mph machine with stock tires. I don't think I ever got over 61mph and the wind out was timely.
Regardless of final top end, the P700 has so much more mid-range pull than the P650. With the right mods a person might be able to get the P650 to a similar level. I don't see the point of buying a P650 to mod the heck out of it to get it to a P700 stock level though. Someone will just mod their P700 and make you look silly.
I'll be able to provide a more complete opinon after I have had more time to evaluate my machine fully. So far, I think it is fantastic.

KISSOFDEATH-
That tire combo you spoke of fascinating!! So the 25x8x12 ATR is only 1/4 inch narrower than a Dunlop 25x10x12? If so, I'm all over that! That would provide better hook-up in the rear and keep the weight down. Please confirm the weight difference and width. GOOD INFORMATION.

I did a write up on my findings on the the ATRs' on my little page. Have a look.
The rears are much wider than the OE's. The fronts are close to the Stock OE Rears.
It does take more throttle to slide them around and break them loos in a straight line. But there is plenty of throttle there.
