Default how much faster is the P700 than the P650???

Hey all,
I'm trying to decide if I should buy a P650 for a good price or a P700 near list price. The manufacturer only lists
the differences as rack modifications, front bumper, and grill changes. Does any one know of any other changes?
Has any one seen the two stock ones in a drag race? Maybe someone has just ridden both.

One more thing, I live in the South East. What are people paying for this bike out the door? With or without tax. Thanks guys.

2000 Sportsman 500 remington, gone... thank god!!!

Sirmill-

I have owned two P650's. I now own a P700. The difference is substantial. Don't waste your $ on a P650, step up and get the P700, it's worth the extra $. It's MUCH faster down low and through the mid-range.

I rode both in the same day I ahd to have the 700. Also 700 is a 2004 makes nearly a $1000.00 difference on used value over a 2003. So if you were to trade next year the difference would be gained back. The 700 pulls so much harder on the bottom end, easy to wheelie slides at will. Just get the 700 or spend the next year wishing you did.

I'll take the other side of the argument. I just faced the same decision and went with the 650. I haven't ridden the 700, but I don't plan to race my quad and the 650 goes as good as I need a quad to, especially a utility quad. I was happy as hell to save several hundred bucks. I'll also respectfully differ with the above comments that an 04 700 will have a $1,000 higher book value than a 03 650 all else being equal. A few cc's will not up the value that much and it seems that's all that has changed. $1,000 dollars difference on the used market is the difference between a Big Bear and a Grizzly. Dealer should let you ride both enough to tell if the extra muscle is worth the $$$$

The thousand dollar difference has as much to do with model years as the exstra ccs. Book a 02 then book an 03 when I did there was a 850.00 difference. 700 is an 04 model 650 is a 03 model. thats why I came up with the figure of a 1000.00. On trade in the dealer goes by the book doesn't matter to them much or the bank when the older model year was purchased only what the NADA book says. So I think in a year the book will be nearly a $1000.00 difference.

I can certainly respect browntrout's position in this matter. The P650 is a perfect utility quad, better than any other except the P700. If you want a utility that's not the fastest it's a perfect choice. I, on the other hand, have a bad habit of always wanting the fastest utility. The P700 just plains rips. It wheelies down low almost like a sport quad, it power slides VERY well and has that instant rush everytime you jab the throttle. These attributes were the deciding factors when I decided to sell my P650 and replace it with a P700. The money had nothing to do with my decision, neither did the resale value of the quad. I LIKE THE SPEED!!!! Some of you are thinking, "well just get a sport quad then". Well, the gentlemen I ride with all have utilities and we ride in river beds, often through deep water and mud so sport quads are out of the question. So I settle for the next best thing, the P700.

Hey Cam,
What kind of tires do you have on the new P700? Did you notice much of a difference in
performance? I plan on buying either the Titan 589's or the Outlaws. No bigger than 26
inches. I don't want to rob too much power. What other options would you suggest? I have heard about the black spring, pink spring, progressive suspension kit, and the new ignition system. What do you think?
Thanks for the input.

The trade in value was a big selling point with my wife made the difference in getting her on my side for the 700. She was reading on one of the forums and now she is worried because they were talking about someone coming out with an 800. She knows that I always want the biggest and baddest. I love the speed and I ride were it is too rocky and the snow gets too deep for a sport quad. Also alot of the steep trails require you go up parts of them real slow so a sport quad would never make it up them they are real steep in those same areas. The point is any of the good 500cc quads will do what you need but my inner child needed the 700 for wheelies and powerslides when ever the oppertunity presents itself. Too bad they don't have 1300cc 600 pound utility quad now that would be fun.

Sirmill-

Tires is a subject that people in this room will probably strongly disagree with me on. It is my position that any other tires, other than the OEM "Dunflops" as they are called, rob the power away. I've tried pretty much every tire that has come along and end up selling them. The Dunlops are so very light. Yes they puncture more easily than most and no they don't have near the traction that other tires have but they are the lightest. Power and speed is the most important attribute I look for in a utility so I keep the quad almost completely stock and light as possible.

As far as modifications, all I'm going to do is add a Nabor or Red650 module to mine. I was very impressed with the dg module in my P650. The gain in the low end was enormous. It was also VERY easy to install. I don't want to put on an aftermarket pipe because I can't stand the noise. I don't mess with clutch kits or jet kits because they are a pain in the @$$. I prefer as little maintainence and adjusting as possible so the module is the only modification I'll be making. Remember, when you go to sell your quad, people are much less likely to purchase it if it has a lot of modifications.

Bottom line: Get the P700, I absolutely promise you that you won't be disappointed!!!!
