My Uncle has a 1998 Bayou 220 with starting problems. He does not use it very often, just around his hobby farm. When he tried to start the bike yesterday the engine made two turns and then went “click click”. Suspecting the battery he tried the pullcord, but after several attempts she still would not start. He tried the battery and the same thing . . . two turns and “click click”. Now the battery is on charge.

Anyone have any experience with this problem? If the charged battery does not work he is going to take it into the dealer to get fixed - $$$$$$$.

He might have flooded it.Pull the plug clean it or put a new one in and try push starting it.If there is nothing else wrong with it the engine should fire.

Loyal,

The only starting problem I've had with my Bayou is a dead battery that I killed as the result of poor maintenance. I added water to it without charging immediately thereafter.

It acted just like what you describe.

I had the same problem on my Honda, it was just a bad wire. You should try fooling around with the wires going to the starter. You can check it by taking the starter off and test it, if it dosent turn it is probably the bushings
