Default question about front diff on 700 praire

if you jack up the front end of the praire until the front tires are off the ground and rotate one of them, is the other one suppossed to spin in the opposite direction when the diff lock is OFF. well mine don't, they both spin in the same direction. i can spin one and hold the other but i feel resistance!!! when i pull in the locker lever then they are both fully locked in. so i guess the locker is partially engaged. i also noticed that when riding in 4wd and then when i stop and go to 2wd the front suspension drops a little when it switches to 2wd. it feels like something was binding. its going back to the dealer, i just figured i would get some advice from you guys on what the problem is so when the dealer gives me some bogus answer then i can tell him a thing or two.

It's OK. The limited slip clutches work the same in or out of 4x4. The locking lever just cams in the plates hard. The locker is not 100% locked but pretty close. It will slip only before you break an axle. See more on the front Diff Here and book mark the site. Lots of good info there. As for the front end dropping. This may be normal due to driveline Torque. The front & rear tires do not travel the same distance in one revolution. If in 4x4 the fronts travel a bit shorter than the rears it will push a bit raising the front. It may be worse than normal if your tire air pressure is not matched well of if the tires are mix sizes or MFGs. Also note the "Steering Stiffness" link on the same page.
