run your machine 'till it is warm, remove plugs and check for color. If they are wite, it is lean. If they are black, you are to rich. You want them to be kind of a tan color. You can find jets at your dealer's or online at rockymountainatv.com.

Sudco is the cheapest place I've seen for jets. 4-strokes are more tolerant of a lean condition, but it never hurts to be just a little rich. Check your plugs anytime you change something on the motor.

98 cobra,

It's always better to be rich than lean. Too rich, and you lose power, but too lean and she'll knock, which can lead to piston damage.

I don't know what they're doing at Kawasaki, but I was told buy a mechanic from this shop in PA that he opened the airbox, installed a K&N w/outwears, and a full HMF dual system without re-jetting and was only running slightly lean. So don't be afraid to try it, but as stated, make sure you check the plugs when you're done.
