WEB CAMS???
#1
Hey! anyone out there tried webcams in thier vforce or p700 yet? I'm wanting to try them, but would like to hear something about how they perform. I've used web cams in just about every 4 stroke I've owned and had great results. Any info would be great.

O.K. Vforcer, they work, but where?
Top end, midrange, bottom end, or any of the above?
Did you notice any hp or torque loss at any point from bottom to top?
Did you have to make jetting changes for them?
How does the stock rev box work with them?
Did you install them yourself? if so, how was it?
What type of riding do you do with your V?
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to find out what to expect out of them. The cams aren't that pricey, but they sure have a core charge. I want to keep my stockers just in case.

Most of my riding is on "GNCC type" trails here in Ohio. Hard charging in and out of tight corners, but rarely above 50 MPH. Given that I can not speak to the "top end power" changes. I can speak to the low and mid range changes. I would tell you that I experenced the same kind of perfomance changes as resulted from changing to the duel exhaust/jet/air box vents. Noticable encrease in low and mid range torque, It will loft the front wheels at about 10 mph higher speed than before.
I also installed an EPI clutch kit, ( black sping in the back ... pink in the front with the belly buster weights.) and increased the jet size a bit. ( note: I tried the red spring..... didn't like it ... too agressive for my liking)
As for the rev box.... I never reach the rev limiter in my riding. As for the install ...... I did the installation myself. It was an easy change ..... removing the battery gave easy access to the rear cylinder, front one a little tight ( I did not remove any plastic ) The cams come with the compression release built in ... and the cams have an off set bolt flange, you can not install them incorrectly. The only caution I give is ... be sure to compleatly remove the timing chain tension units .... you will need to reset them before installing them again.
Summary ... I am very pleased with the package. The engine starts easy, runs smoothly, has more torque through all the power band that I use.
If there is a down side, it is that this machine will stand up in a heart beat at less than 30mph
Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. That answered what I was wanting to know about the cams. When I decide to order them I will be doing the install myself, I do all of my own work, who can afford not to? I agree that the red spring is a little on the aggressive side, but I'm afraid that the other springs just won't perform as well.

That red spring was so agressive that I couldn't get it on or off the trailer without spinning the tires......
I think that the black sping in the back, and the lighter fly weights allow the engine to shift out at a higher RPM..... more in the power band. It is very aggressive on the trail ... you better be paying attention when you stab that throttle !

Hey Gofast, I just built a V with the Web cams. With 11:1 wiseco's (2mm over 650 Pistons) Porting, MBRP Duals and Dalton clutches it made 46 hp at the rear wheels. With clutching we had the stk V up to 36 and change.
The clutches had to be softened to get the bike to stay down and straight (even with the suspension straped down it would still wheely badly at 150 ft out) running high 5.6 to low 5.7 sec in 300ft on a slow track.
You guys need the Dalton clutch kit and overdrive cover (picks up 3-4 mph on top) to really make your V run.
