Default used kfx 700

i bought a used kfx700 today and have a couple of questions. when it goes into forward it kind of makes a clunk sound and when you get going really fast there is a kind of whining sound, is that normal???
my main question is it will not go into reverse. the shifter goes into forward no problem but when you try to go into reverse it just does not let you. i am hoping something just needs to be adjusted???

Congrats!

1. Clunking sound, if someone put an aftermarket spring in the primary (drive) clutch, it may do that during engagement. If it bothers you or the noise gets worse, put in a stock spring or have it checked.
2. Whining sound, perfectly normal. Welcome to the world of belt drive auto's. It will probably get quieter as you ride it more.
3. Reverse, you must depress the rear break pedal in order for it to shift into reverse. This is misleading as you do not have to hold the brake to shift into forward.

Good luck, hope this helps....

Here's another suggestion HUNDRED..

You said that when you go into forward, it makes a "clunk" sound. It sounds like you have the idle up a little too high. Try turning it down a little and see what happens.

Congrads on your purchase!

There should be a tool in your tool kit to tighten up the pre-load. The fronts are easy to do but you pretty much have to take off the rear as it's almost impossible to reach with the tool. Some people just use a long screwdriver and hammer.

i squat the v a little more than i like so i just wanted to tighten up the spring and make the rear end a little stiffer. it kind of had a clunking noise when i put in gear but that was just because the idle was a little to high.

everything is perfect now though.

one more question everbody. is the primary clutch spring install about the same for the praire 650 and my v700. i found the walkthrough on nyroc's site for the praire and figure there can't be too much difference???

i am waiting for my pink spring in the mail and just want to be sure i know what i am getting myself into.

thanks,
hundredspk

ok, i'm a bonehead. for some reason i was thinking that you were still talking about clutch springs. i breathe in too many fiberglass fumes i guess.
