Default v-force airbox mods+160/165 jets

Hey gang, I have Duncan duals and recommended jetting 148/152 with snorkel removed. I want to try 160/165 jets. I think I will try propping the front of the airbox cover on the clips to start. Have any of you with pipes removed the "baffle" that is just behind the snorkel inlet inside the box? Will this interfere with airflow or create turbulence? I like the looks of the low-boy vents from tpi. I do know much more air can be obtained by propping the front of the lid up. I tried it with current jets and felt a loss in power. I ordered 155, 160, and 165 jets. I am at about 1100 ft. If I can get a healthy balance of fuel and air by propping the lid, I will order the tpi vents.

I tried 160/165 with two TPI vents ...... and with the air box propped open.

Mine ran well on the top..... but developed a "cough" at mid point when you stabbed the throttle....

I decided I needed to have adjustable needles ......... so I bought a dynojet kit. Those needles are
much smaller in diameter ......... so the jet I am using have smaller numbers .... but the amount of fuel
they allow to enter would be simular to the big jets with the stock "fat" needles.

after about the forth time of taking it about to move shims ... with different jets ..... I finally got it dialed
in ...... responsive through the entire power band, no coughing, just POWER

Bigcreek which pipe did you get, they offer two models? Do you race? How did the install go , nice fit and finish? I am considering their pipes for some time now.

I bought the t-6. The install was a little frustrating. I had to drill the flange holes out about 1/64" and had to grind one of the flanges about .010". They do guarantee full satisfaction or your money back, but I decided to fix them and put'em on. They sent the recommended jets and said to remove the airbox snorkel. The V does scream now, especially with the hpd silver/gold. I routinely beat modded raptors drag racing. They still have a little more top end than me, but Duncan will have vortex cdi soon (Jan they say) and they are working on ring and pinion

To answer your question about the airbox baffle, yes I did remove that on mine. I did run 160/165 jets at that point and it worked fine. Now I'm pushing 785cc's so I'm up to 170/175

Thanks PCDoc, any noted problems without the baffle? What elevation are you at?
