Probably a stupid question, but I have to ask...

Is there any way to mount a winch on a V-force, short of a custom mount ? I tried several different searches and came up blank. I'm not trying to turn the bike into something it is not, but I ride some trails that are pretty rough after a heavy rainfall. The luxury of a winch when I'm alone would be nice. For most of my riding, a winch or 4X4 is not needed, hence my purchase of the V. More curious than anything at this point, I'd settle for a rear mounted set up if need be. My best guess is that I will have to fabricate something on my own.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Think you are on your own on that one, I never seen any OEM or aftermarket winch mount for that bike. I also understand why and think it is smart on your part. Maybe start with the factory winch plate that comes with the winch (at least with Warn's) and adapt it to fit the rear of the V.
Good luck.

Thanks 54, I'll look at the winch plates and go from there. If I have to build something, I'd really like to have it up front but I am not sure where to mount. Wondering if the locations where the front bumper bolts up would be strong enough and also if I would be stressing anything out ?

I would want it up front also ............... I would suggest you look at using an AC front bumper as a mounting base. You could set t up with some bolts and wing nuts/cannon plug .... could install/uninstall pretty quickly.

Thanks Vforcer. Any reason an AC bumper over one by DG, etc. ? I had already ordered a DG V-Pro from rcmatv before I got this notion. What I really need, for the front mount, is a bumper made outta steel for a rock solid mounting platform. I'm not sure how well the alum. bumpers will perform ? I might just try the simple approach first with the aftermarket bumper, if it doesn't work I can have a friend weld me up a suitable platform outta tube steel stock. Again, my biggest concern is not the mount, but where to place the mount so as not to damage the bike while using the winch.
Anyone else have any thoughts about the use of the front bumper mounts as a winch platform ?

I said AC because I have one .... and can see that it would work. It requires that you take off the lower plastic, and has a five point mount ....... two of them at the top by the radiator. "rock solid" is a good discription.
If DG does that .... you are in business

Might also look into a reciever hitch type set up, so you could very quickly unplug and remove your winch. I think Montana Jack is who had they for other bikes, would probably have to be customized

Do not put it up front of your V force....It will block air flow and overheat your motor...I have tried it..I am now looking into a six pack rack with a portable winch I Found at Sam's wholesale club...Will post pictures When I can.....

Good info Mental, never even thought of the air restriction issue. As long as it was mounted securely, I could live with it on the back. Interested in any pics. you can send my way.
