I just changed the oil in my 2000 Prarie 300. At idle, I notice a slight grinding sound coming from the pull start case. Is this normal? I used 10w-40 oil. Any suggestions on a certain type of oil I should use?

I have a 99 Prairie 300 and I have
not notice a grinding noise coming
from the pull start case. You might
want to check with the Kawasaki dealer.
As for oil I would use a high quality
motor oil designed for motorcycles or
extreme duty. Did the 10w-40 meet this
purpose? Believe it or not, but I use
Shell Rotella-T 15w-40 in my ATVs.

Good luck

I hope ya'll bought the extended warranty. My dad has a 1999 300 Prarie 4x4 that was making the same noise from around the pull start area plus an added rattle when driving. The dealer replaced a bearing on the pull start side of the engine. I think it delt with the either the pull start itself or the crank shaft bearing on the left side. He got it back after one week and it was covered under warranty.
