Hey mac, I drag some around here on pavement. The very best mod to embarrass him with would be to lower your V with ratchet tie-downs. This is easy and inexpensive. I just thread the strap through the lower shock mount, bring it up the back side of the shock, thread it through the top shock mount insert strap into ratchet, connect hooks and compress shocks. Do this evenly on both sides. You can also lower the rear by running a tie-down through the rear-end and running it around the fuel tank shield. Just be careful not to ratchet down too tightly since this will bend. One good tip on the front is to wrap the springs at the top with something to protect them. I use a couple pieces of scrap hose I found at work and duct tape them on. Otherwise, when you begin to ratchet, they will want to bite into the springs. One other thing, if you try this, you will have to trim the straps for the front. I don't remember if mine were 6' or 9'. I just know I had to cut a few feet off or the ratchets would get too full to work. Once you get the shocks compressed, you will be able to launch full throttle! You can also combine this with the hpd plain or silver/gold spring and you will be a terror to that 400 I have seen people use solid struts on the front also. These are usually made from some type of metal tubing. Be careful with either of these ideas as the V handles much differently especially at higher speeds. I have gotten used to it now, but the first few races it felt a little spooky. I raced a 400 with mine strapped down and it didn't even look like a race. Once you get the V where you can lanch full throttle, it's truly a beast. Hope this helps.

Well, I have raced a Z400 with my V-Force, stock and modded. My buddy on the Z was a little slower than me on the V-Force, not much but slower. With my pipes and springs he falls behind even more. The Z weights in with rider at about 590 and the V weights in at about 800 with a rider and I still beat him. This is all on pavement, we tried it in a field and it was exactly the same. Don't be afraid of the Z, its no match.

Mac...

I noticed that you placed the same thread in the Suzuki forum and have not gotten any response. That in itself speaks volumes about how the two quads compare.

Ya, I noticed that nobody wanted to touch that subject over there.

You will definetly want some paddles...otherwise you are in some trouble. My neighbor has a stock V-Force and a stock Z, and on pavement they are close, but the V will win until very late. In the sand, the sheer weight and size of the V really brings its performance down, and it will sit there and spin until its dug up 6 feet of sand. The Z's small weight really helps it at the dunes and plays a HUGE factor.
