I brought my prairie 650 in to the dealership for a tapping noise over a week ago. So I call almost everyday trying to find out whats wrong with the quad. they told me it was the drivers tapping inside the belt drive. I said fine fix it. I called Monday 11/10 to see what was going on. They say " Come on down pick up your quad." so I ask what was the problem with the drivers. "umm hold on let me check on that . oh we havent even looked at the quad yet. I flipped, lost my cool, and started to yell. I call back today its not the drivers its a rod rubbing, and its prob not covered under your 4 year warrenty. They told me I prob was running dirty oil, but I know thats not true bc i check before every ride. What shoud I do?. I think they r trying to screw me. I already made a complaint to Kawasaki.

After all this time my dealership called yesterday. " um we don't have anybody who can work on your quad over here so if you don't want it sitting here for a couple of months come and pick it up." I gave them my quad in running condition and they gave it back to me in parts. I brought it to another place and they told me my drivers were fine and there was no rod tapping.

not sure where you are, but i'm the servce mgr / parts mgr at a kawasaki dealer in IL and i can fix it. it sounds like the clutch clunking. this is normal to a point. not sure how many hours / miles you have but you also need to keep the clutch aera clean by blowing the clutch out every so often. the dust is like sandpaper as well as the belt dust. the guide bushings get worn and that is where the noise comes from. this is normal wear and wearable items are not coverd under the warranty. depending on the miles some times you can call the warranty dept. and get them to cover at least the parts. if it is a engine noise that should be coverd under the warranty. to prevent the clutch problum to a point every 20 or so hours pop the clutch cover off and get a blow gun and blow every thing out real good, turning the drive clutch as you do to make sure you get all the dust. hope this helps. i have 2 650's one with 1300 miles 85 hours, and still have adjustment left in the stock belt. just keep it clean!!!
