Default P-360 Initial startup problems

Everytime I go to ride the prairie it takes like 15 min. of riding to get it warm enough so it doesn't die when I stop on a trail. It doesn't matter whether I sit there for 15 min. while it idles, or if I let the motor get good and warm to the touch then give it hell. No matter what I do it doesn't want to run right for the first 15-20 min. Could my problem be as simple as it needing a valve adjustment (which hasn't been done since the first service over a year ago) or should I be looking for a more complicated problem???????? Thanks for your help, this is really starting to get annoying.

my wifes 360 does the same thing have to let it warm up for a long time. i let her run it on 1/4 choke for the first little bit on the trail then she shuts it off and it runs fine after that

Check the valve's.. The exhaust valve is notorious on the 360 for getting out of adjustment & causing this problem, I had the same problem with mine last fall.. When the 1st service was done were the vavles adjusted?? Was this the 10 hour mainence service your refering to?? I assume the dealer did this & not you?? how many miles do you have on it??

Yes the p 360 needs the valves checked esp the exhaust, if its too tight it wont idle and also run bad till mach gets warm. Has the belt light came on yet? thats on a timer and will come on after 90 hours and thats really the only way to tell how many hours are on the mach unless its a 2wd it comes standard with an hour meter under the seat.

There is a small screw on the bottom of the carb in front of the fuel bowl, turn this screw out half a turn. This is the idle mixture. Turning it out will richen the carb and help with cold starts.

I am having a very similar problem with mine. It is virtually impossible to keep running usless it is really warm. The broblem is that the idle also races when it gets warm making it impossible to shift. You have to them take the idle down using the idle adjust. BUT then that screws things up for the next warm star.

Mine is currently at the dealer and thay have had it a week and can't figure it out. I was just doing some searches on the net and there was a write up on the 650 that sounded just like this. On this machine they replaced the Engine Brake Actuator Module and it cleared it up.

I don't know if I should call our dealer and give them a tip.

fj40man, have you had them check your valve's namely the exhaust.. Your problem describes my same experiences & it was the exhaust valve way out of adjustment, this is a very common problem on the 360..

I am having the same problem on my 03P360. It is about to drive me crazy. I cannot stop it without it dying on my for the first 15-30 minutes. When it dies, it is then very hard to crank back up. The exhaust valves will clear this up???????????????

TxRebel have you tried turning out the air screw? I did this on my 360, 1300 miles and starts great.

No I haven't tried that. I don't even know where it is. Also I read somewere that the P360 had an hour meter on it. I have looked under the seat but don't see one.
