Default Drive Pulley Puller Bolt?

Time for a new belt and this is my first time installing one (nyroc site would be helpful today).

I was able to loosen up the Driven Pully, but I can not get the Drive Pully lose without a puller bolt. Has anyone made there own "Drive Pulley Puller Bolt" Kawi part # 57001-1429? I know its only $35 and I ordered one, but they said 4-5 days and I need to get this belt on for this weekend.

Any ideas?

RocketJoe,
Try to get one from your dealer for the morning or for an hour or so, take your machine down to the dealer if you need it right away. Unfortuneatly there is no way to take off the front clutch without that bolt I have tried many times. At $35 that is very cheap but of course the time factor is the next thing maybe there is fellow forum member close that can help.

I didn't think you needed to remove the pullies to change the belt . just run it backwards with a breakover and slide your belt over at thje same time till its off. atleast thats how i did it on my 650

You dont need to remove the drive pully at all. Just put a socket on the driven turn it clockwise and guide the belt off with your other hand .It is very easy and takes about 5 seconds I have done it many times.

Just for the record here is where I purchased the "Pulley Puller Bolt". Its just as nice as the dealers tool and a 1/3 the cost.

The belt on a P-700 or V-Force is a little more difficult to remove by "derailing" it off of the pulleys than the P-650, but it is possible. I have done it twice, now. You do not need the special pulley removal tool. Nice, yes, but not necessary.

I agree. The puller is cheap and 15 seconds to pull. Good time to check crank seal and you will need it to remove the primary for service later anywhoo
