Best price on ATRs...
I recently received approval from the house budget committee (wife) to buy a set of ATRs on C series wheels.
I found a guy on Ebay who has them for $550 including lug nuts and shipping. I know nothing about this guy other than he does have a good Ebay rating.
Anyone know of anyplace cheaper?

I agree!! Every time I do a search it pulls up another scam! These are usually easy to spot because the "Buy It Now" price is about half of what the item is worth. And they usually only have one or two items listed, and both are scams. They almost never list a location or a # to reach them.
This guys price is about $25 cheaper than I've found elsewhere. He has a bunch of other new ATV parts for sale. He has a good Ebay rating and also a phone # where he can be reached. I'm still leary.
I feel the same way about buying off of an internet site. Scammers can set up their own site too. I saw one website, where a guy using someone else's info, was claiming to sell brand new name brand quads for almost half price. When I emailed him saying that I had cash and wanted to come to his place and pick one up, the emails quit coming back!

Send him an E-mail and ask if he will do a COD for you. Let him know how leary you are about an e-bay purchase right now and see what happens.
All you can do is loose some time writing the e-mail.
If not, you said he has a number, give him a call and ask the same thing.
Good luck.
Let us know the results.

You notice my post "Beware of ATV frauds on Ebay" has been pulled by the moderators?
The fraudulent ads are still there. someone named joshbuddy is trying to rip us off still, but now he is
using United States as a location. How about a 2004 Grizzly for $3000? Yeah right!

He emailed me back said that he would knock $10 off the package, because there are no center caps for the Kawasakis. $540 for wheels, tires and lugs, shipped to my door. What do you think?
I try to support my local dealer as much as possible but he wanted $300 for the wheels, $300 for the tires, extra for the lug nuts and valve stems, plus sales tax. Then I would have to pay him to mount them! I told him if he would match the internet price (minus sales tax) I would buy from him. He couldn't come close. Personally, I will never buy anything off Ebay anymore that over $100.00 . It just isnt worth the risk anymore. There are too many scams. It's such a shame to have a place like that and be afraid to buy anything. A friend of mine has hit some real hard times lately due to an accident. He has been out of work for almost two years. They have been barely getting by on his wifes salary. They decided to get themselves a digital camera off Ebay, because of the savings. They sent the cashiers check off and never heard from the guy. He had a real good seller rating and all. They found out the check was forwarded overseas to some little country. They are out $450. They will not ahve anything for each other this Xmas. Sorry for the long post, but just be careful on Ebay.

Sorry to hear about your freind. Times are hard enough, and then something like this happens.
If I purchase using Paypal, then I am protected against fraud. I don't know how hard it would be to get my money back from them. If I purchase using my Visa card, I am protected also. If product never arrives, call Visa. Purchase is put in limbo while they investigate. If I never signed for the purchase, I am not liable for it.

Go for it Brian, as long as the seller will take PayPal, you are covered.
I talked to a friend of mine today who is a bigtime SELLER on Ebay. She has been
on for about 4 years I believe.
I asked her about all the fraud going on there lately, and she said Ebay is trying to
get a handle on it, but the perpetrators are hard to track down. They give false
info when they register, and use PO boxes ect, with fake ID's.
She gave me the following tips about buying on Ebay.
1. Never trust anyone, even if they have an impeccable feedback rating.
2. Cover your *ss on every transaction. Make payments only through PayPay
or other payment service if available
3. Never give a seller your credit card or bank account numbers. Ever.
4. Do not pay by cash transaction methods; cashiers check, money order,
Western Union, ect.
5. If a seller won't do business your way, withdrawl your bid, explaining why
and go on to the next seller of a like item.
