Default Pilot screw help

Wanted to try and richen it up a little so I wanted to open the pilot screws 1/4 turn. I tried to tighten it first to see what it was set at to start with. I started with the back carb. It made one turn and got tight. I expected 2 1/4. So I opened it and it would only open 1 1/4 turns and it got tight again. I thought the pilot screw would keep opening until it came out. Could there be something wrong with it or am I doing something wrong.

Thanks for any help.

Default Pilot screw help

I've never taken mine all the way out, but I'm running ming 3 1/2 turns out now and they never tightened up as I was adjusting them.
