I'm new to the p700 and I love it to death. Did any of you at first have trouble adjusting to the engine braking system? I shouldnt say "trouble" it's just that for the first several hours I had a hard time letting the braking system do it's job. I'd always use the hand brakes but as soon as I'd catch myself doing so I'd let go and the the engine brake take over and the outcome was amazing. I still can't get used to how well it works on this machine. Am I the only one?

 

you should never need to adjust your engine brake. Important: -- Your engine brake is only there to assist you in stopping and slowing down, you can use your hand/foot brake in conjuction with the engine brake. When I'm in 2wd I personnally onnly brake with the front tires because I don't use my back brake too often. Also you will find the engine brake is much more aggressive until it's broke in. Didn't say that I had to physically adjust the engine brake. I meant that the brake woks so much different than other quads that I've owned/ridden. On those quads I alway relied on the brakes rather than the engine brake. With the P700 I'm able to let the engine brake do most of the work rather than the hand/foot brakes. I guess it's a trust thing with me. It took me several hours to trust the Kawi's engine brake and let it do it's job. Way different than my Sportsman. <-------In a good way.

Camo700, tell me about it! . I just got my 700 also and took it out to hunting camp. My previous rides were/are polaris'. Man what a differance, I was expecting to "free wheel" down this mountain I hunt on. It was quite a pleasant surprise, this thing just crawled down....you actually had to give it gas. I was nervous about not using brakes like we were used to ya know. I only have about 7 hours on the machine so I'm still getting used to it. Love the power of this thing! Take care ...Bob

 

Yes adjusting to the great engine braking of the Prairie takes some time to get used to, especially if you are coming off an older Polaris that did not have it.

 

I got off a P-650, onto a V-Force, this summer. The 'Force had VERY LITTLE engine braking. Talk about learning curves! I am happy to say that I am back on a P-700, and love that KEBS, when riding in the Appalachian Mtns., at Hat/McCoy! You'll get the hang of it!
